The Mid-Hudson Kennel Association holds an annual Eye Clinic each fall. It is usually held at the Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, Rhinebeck, NY (see map) in either October or November depending on the schedule of the ophthalmologist.
Dr. Thomas Kern, a board certified ophthalmologist from Cornell University, has been conducting the Clinic for the past several years. This is a CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) Clinic. CERF works to eliminate heritable eye disease in purebred dogs through its registry and research. Specialists certified by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists provide painless examinations of dogs and send their findings to the CERF headquarters at Purdue University. This information is helpful in studying trends in eye disease and breed susceptibility.
This year’s Clinic is to be held on Sunday, November 2, 2008. The cost is $30 per dog. Please make all checks payable to Mid-Hudson Kennel Association.
All dogs must be pre-registered by October 24, 2008.
